Julian Opie Portraits

Julian Opie has a very unique style as he creates portraits with minimal detail, using only basic and simple colours and very basic shapes for features; small circles for eyes. He has done many other portraits using more detail however, the style that I am mainly looking at are the ones with less detail.
Also, in his portraits, he uses very thick, bold lines for lips, face, hair etc. The unique aspect of this form of art is the use of colours that can be used to create shading and light/dark areas.
Opie's work is very bold and striking with the use of the simple colour that he uses in the background. This makes the portrait stand out as the colours contrasting and bright.

Pixel Art

Pixel art is a form of art that is created using graphic software. Its style is very simple with minimal detail. In this form of art the pixels are exposed to create a rough edge. This form of art is very simplistic as it lacks in detail and also the colours are a selection of primary colours that are bold, including red, blue, yellow etc. Pixel art is a very unique form of art as its created using small squares/pixels.

An example of a company that specialises in pixel art includes Shynola, of which they only create a simple shape to only slightly suggest what the object is, including food, animals etc.

iPod

The advertisement for ipod uses silhouettes of people in dance-like poses, with the ipod on them. This form of art is unique, however even though the design itself looks simple it's also very bold and striking, as the silhouettes contrast with the background. The iPod advertisement is very striking as the design is sophisticated with simple colours, using black for the silhouette against a contrasting colour, like blue for example, makes the image stand out.
This form of art uses very basic, yet bold colours, however, the shapes [i.e. the bodies] are very complex and interesting.

Above: I have created my own iPod
advertisement, using inspiration
from the original advertisements that
have silhouettes in dance-like poses.
